As part of its corporate social responsibility, Frontieri Consult launched annual partial scholarship opportunity for Ethiopian PhD candidates. The basic objective of launching the program was our deep-rooted vision of giving back to the community in which our firm is outstanding on- knowledge generation and dissemination through research.
We as a firm believes knowledge has unreplaceable role in the development of a community and a country as a whole. Assisting those individuals that strive to assist the development process through knowledge generation is aligned with our corporate strategic objectives and become our honor and stands out as our primary Corporate Social Responsibility.
As per the call for submission of concept note for application, more than 67 applications from various government Universities has been received. An internal committee encompassing the managing partner, renowned professionals and technical expertise of Frontieri has set up an evaluation criteria for selection.
The selection process has passed 5 rounds of selection and the committee has nominated 3 finalists for the final round of project pitch. On March 3 /2020, the final round 3 runners were invited to present their research projects to the selection committee. The finalists made presentations with relevant feedbacks forwarded from the selection committee members. Among the finalists, the PHD candidate studying “Heritage Studies” at Mekele Universty, Gebrekiros Welegebriel was selected and awarded with the 2019 partial scholarship by Frontieri. Mr Gebrekiros Welegebriel will be granted with technical coaching and mentorship, working space, financial assistance of up to Birr 100,000.00 (Birr One Hundred Thousand), and other supports needed for field-level data collection.
The primary evaluation criteria for selection of the scholarship awardee included a proven professional and academic achievements, strength and objective of the research project, feasibility of the research methodology, relevance of applicant’s research experience to Frontieri’s research and development priorities and expected contribution of the proposed research in tackling societal problem(s) at the grassroots level.
