  • The Implication of Joining COMESA-EAC-SADC Tripartite FTA on the Ethiopian Economy

    Description of Project:

    The main objectives of the study were twofold: to evaluate, both qualitatively and quantitatively, the likely implications of joining the COMESA-EAC-SADC tripartite FTA on the Ethiopian Economy; and to assess the implications of the on-ongoing EPA negotiations between countries in the COMESA-EAC-SADC regions with the EU in the formation of the Tripartite FTA.

    The study used different approaches including the Global Trade Analysis Project (GTAP) model (computable general equilibrium model), the gravity model, the sensitive product identification technique, and review of policy documents and relevant literature. The study relied mainly on secondary data sources such as Ethiopian Customs and Revenue data, the national income account statistics, etc.

    The main objective of the assignment was to build the capacity of new FDAs and raising the awareness of key stakeholders. The participants were Kebele Chair Persons, Woreda Focal Persons, People Working on Early Warning, Health Extension Workers. The training comprises expectations & learning contracts, food receipts, definitions, unloading, procedures and formats used, food safety and handling, store management, personal hygiene and environmental health and recording, food distribution, definitions, procedures and supervision/control, transport & related issues, introducing all formats & bills to be used in the receipt and handling and distribution of commodities, as well as the reporting formats

  • New ICT Policy for General Education

    Description of Project:

    The main objective of the study is to “Establish a national policy for Education”, to develop a national ICT policy, to develop a national implementation strategy for the policy, to raise awareness on ICT policy for education.

    Frontieri was responsible for the following primary tasks, delivered to the specifications detailed in the final proposal:

    • An inception report
    • A comprehensive situational analysis report on policy environment on ICT in Education
    • A comprehensive report on the review of the education component of the education sector Strategic Plan (Including analysis of other African Countries ICT national policies in education
    • Submission of ICT in Education Policy document
    • Submission of ICT in Education Strategic Plan
    • Organizing a two-day workshop towards the end of the assignment to present results of the work and build a capacity among policymakers, regulators and for all concerned stakeholders in the regions on the implementation of the strategic plan and education policy.

  • Pathways for Sustainable Employment for Women and Youth in Ghana and Ethiopia (PASEWAY) - Assessment on Formal Employment Opportunities (for Ethiopia)

    Description of Project:

    The main purpose of the assignment is to develop a project proposal by assessing existing labor market situation, employment opportunities of youth and expected risks to implement the PASEWAY project. The broad objectives of the assignment will include but not limited to:

    • Conduct work plan with detail deadlines for each project activities and deliverables;
    • Conduct desk review for labor market assessment on formal youth employment;
    • Identify and select local technical and implementing partners;
    • Conduct planning workshops along with technical and implementing partners and plan international Germany/Ethiopia; and
    • Develop a project proposal with budget, based on key findings of desk review, inputs from planning workshop and guidelines shared by the client.

    Description of Project:

    The purpose of the consultancy assignment is in two-fold. The first component of the assignment is to review the implementation of the Annual Social Protection Sector Plans for the four regions of Ethiopia (Tigray, Oromiya, SNNPR, and Amhara). In the second component of the assignment, the primary task will be the preparation of costed social protection action plans for the remaining five regions and two city administrations (Addis Ababa, Afar, Benishangul, Dire Dewa, Gambella, Harari, and Somali).

  • Revision of Strategic Plan for Community Care Structures and Developing Guidelines with Action Plans for Strengthening CCS in Line with National Social Protection Policy

    Description of Project:

    The objective of this work package is to conduct situational analysis on community care structures in the five regions; Revision of the Draft Framework for Community care Structures and Develop Implementation guideline for CCCs and develop Capacity-strengthening action plan for CCCs. This involves holistic view of CCCs program, looking at each essential element.

    The study will look at the different programs run by community care structures including; cash transfer, Social Insurance system and promotion;  accessibility of fair and quality healthcare, education and social welfare services; Legal Protection and Support for Citizens Exposed to Violence and Oppression; public work programs and safety net and other programmes.
